Privacy Policy

Overview

Pong ("the app," "we," "our") is a network diagnostic tool for iOS developed by 7thChord Projects. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Pong is designed with a local-first architecture: all data the app generates or stores lives on your device only.

Information We Do Not Collect

Pong does not collect, transmit, store on remote servers, or share any of the following:

• Personal identifiers (name, email address, Apple ID)
• Device identifiers (UDID, IDFA, IP address)
• Location data
• Usage analytics or crash reports
• The hostnames or IP addresses you ping
• Your ping history or results
• Network information about your device or network

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

Pong stores the following data exclusively on your device using SwiftData, Apple's local persistence framework:

• Ping results — sequence numbers, RTT values, timestamps, and resolved IP addresses for hosts you have pinged.
• Monitored hosts — hostnames or IP addresses and optional labels you add to the Multi-Host list (Pong Pro feature).

This data is stored in your device's app sandbox and is subject to your device's standard backup and iCloud sync settings (if enabled in iOS Settings). It is never transmitted to 7thChord Projects or any third party.

Network Activity

Pong sends ICMP Echo Request packets to the hostnames or IP addresses you explicitly enter or import. This is the core function of the app. The app does not make any other network connections — no analytics endpoints, no advertisement networks, no update servers.

The ICMP packets sent by Pong are indistinguishable from standard operating-system ping traffic and do not contain any personal information.

In-App Purchases

Pong Pro is available as a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit 2. 7thChord Projects does not receive or store your payment information. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

The app verifies your Pro entitlement on-device using Apple's StoreKit APIs. No purchase information is transmitted to 7thChord Projects' servers (which do not exist).

Third-Party Services

Pong does not integrate any third-party SDKs, advertising networks, analytics services, or tracking frameworks. The app is built entirely with Apple's first-party frameworks: Swift, SwiftUI, SwiftData, and StoreKit 2.

Children's Privacy

Pong does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because the app collects no data at all, it presents no special risks for younger users.

Data Deletion

All data stored by Pong exists only on your device. You can delete it at any time:

• Individual host history — use the trash menu in the app to clear history for the current host.
• All history — available with Pong Pro via the trash menu.
• Everything — delete the Pong app from your device. All associated data is removed immediately.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users through an app update. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
